Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic + Urinary Stress Wet Cat Food Pouches

Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic + Urinary Stress Feline is a weight management solution for obese, overweight and obesity-prone cats who also suffer from concurrent lower urinary tract disease and stress or anxiety.

As with humans, obesity is a growing issue for our pets. A survey conducted in the US in 2011 found that over half of all dogs and cats are currently overweight or obese. Although they may look cute and cuddly, overweight pets are at risk of many potential health problems and are likely to have reduced lifespans.

Obesity and stress can both contribute to the progression of urinary issues in felines. Cats that are prone to the development of urinary disorders such as feline idiopathic cystitis and urinary crystals and stones generally need to be fed a lifelong urinary support diet to prevent recurrence. These diets have controlled levels of protein and minerals to limit the building blocks of urinary crystals and stones, they also contain ingredients that optimise urine pH to interrupt stone formation. Most of these diets are not designed to assist with weight loss, which can make it extra challenging to manage obesity and weight gain in cats with a history of urinary disorders.

Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic + Urinary Stress uses a synergistic blend of ingredients to boost the metabolism of obese and overweight pets, prevent the recurrence of urinary issues, and reduce stress levels.

To reduce anxiety, it contains hydrolysed casein, a bioactive peptide that has been shown to decrease anxiety related behaviours in dogs and cats, as well as L-tryptophan, an essential amino acid precursor for serotonin. These special ingredients may help to decrease signs of anxiety and stress in cats.

To prevent urinary issues, it is formulated with controlled levels of magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and oxalate, to limit the building blocks of crystals and bladder stones. It also contains potassium citrate to adjust urine pH and interrupt the formation of bladder stones.

To achieve weight loss, Metabolic + Urinary Stress contains optimal levels of fibre and a synergistic blend of ingredients to improve the metabolism and keep your cat fuller between meals.
