Best Toys for Small Parrots

The Super Bird Activity Wall mimics a tree trunk, which many species of parrots burrow into to create nest and shelter holes. The seagrass base also contains several dangling attachments for parrots to hang off of, chew, and destroy!

This simple but ingenious toy is made of yucca cactus, providing your birds with a harder outer layer and a softer inner layer that they’ll love to chew and tear apart. The pre-cut holes can be stuffed with treats to make it a foraging toy, and smaller birds can even burrow all the way in!

Parrots love a rope swing, but many rope swings are made with cotton or other more durable fibres, making them a risk for crop blockages and toe injuries. This jute swing helps to reduce the risk of these accidents while also allowing our parrots access to a different kind of perch. 

This perch can be used as a hanging perch, or secured at two ends to make a bridge. You can even get creative and add other hanging components to turn it into a bird gym or a foraging toy!

While it seems like an inconsequential detail, food and water bowls are actually really important for birds, as plastic bowls accumulate scratches over time that harbour bacteria, and poor quality metal bowls may be made out of toxic heavy metals. Stainless steel bowls are durable, and are also food-safe, just like stainless steel kitchen equipment. 

This design allows for easy removal of the bowl for washing, and the clamp system makes it simple to rearrange your bird’s enclosure, or even add extra bowls for different foods.

Some enclosures do well with food and water options on the ground, and some species like turquoise parrots prefer to feed on the ground. Although these bowls were designed with cats in mind, the features suit birds very well, such as the non-slip base, stainless steel construction, and shallow depth. It is also dishwasher safe, and the price point makes it easy to get several to swap out while others are being washed. 

However, placing feeding stations on the ground does make soiling an increased risk, so careful placement is required, as well as more frequent maintenance and cleaning.
