Keeping on top of your cat's parasite prevention can feel like a juggling act. With different products needed for fleas, ticks, and worms at varying intervals, it's easy to lose track. Thankfully, staying ahead of pesky parasites can be a whole lot simpler.
Felpreva is a spot-on treatment designed to make life easier for cat parents. It offers the longest-lasting broad-spectrum protection available for cats in a single dose, simplifying your cat's healthcare routine. This means you have less to worry about and more time to enjoy life with the master of the house!
What parasites does Felpreva protect against?
Felpreva provides comprehensive protection against the most common and dangerous parasites that can affect Australian cats. One easy application treats and controls:
- Fleas
- Paralysis ticks
- Ear mites
- Roundworms
- Hookworms
- Lungworms
- Tapeworms
Key features of Felpreva
Three months of freedom
The standout feature of Felpreva is its extended duration of action. A single dose protects your cat for 13 weeks (approximately 3 months) against fleas, ticks, mites, lungworm and common intestinal worms. This significantly reduces the number of treatments you need to remember each year, making parasite protection more convenient than ever.
A stress-free application
Administering medication to cats can be a challenge, but Felpreva is designed to make the process as smooth as possible.
Low volume and low odour: A low volume dose is less likely to run from the application site and into the surrounding fur. This helps to prevent that sticky patch that cats often dislike. Since cats have a powerful sense of smell, a low odour helps to reduces stress and aversion to the application of the product.
Quickly absorbed: The formula is designed to be absorbed rapidly into the skin. This minimises the window where a cat might try to lick the product off, or where it could be transferred to another pet or your furniture.
'Easy to give' certified: The International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) has recognised Felpreva with an 'easy to give' award, acknowledging its user-friendly design that helps keep cats happy and comfortable during application.
Sized for your feline friend
Felpreva is available in three different sizes to suit most cats:
- Small cats: 1 - 2.5 kg
- Medium cats: >2.5 - 5 kg
- Large cats: >5 - 8 kg
It is suitable for use on kittens from 10 weeks of age, ensuring they can be protected from a young age. It's important to note that the safe use of Felpreva in breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats has not been evaluated.
How to apply Felpreva
Applying Felpreva is simple:
- Remove one pipette from the package.
- Hold the pipette upright, twist and pull off the cap.
- Part the fur on the back of your cat's neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible.
- Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin. Applying the dose at the base of the skull will minimise the chance of your cat licking the product.
A note on heartworm protection
While Felpreva provides broad protection against many common parasites, it does not cover heartworm. In cats, heartworm disease is very rare, and recent Australian studies confirm the risk is low1,2. That said, if contracted, heartworm can be life-threatening for cats. Prevention is recommended for cats in high-risk areas.
