There are many factors that predispose pets to developing osteoarthritis. Obesity and developmental orthopaedic diseases like hip and elbow dysplasia are common causes. Previous trauma to the joint from accidental injury or surgery can also play a role. Once the joint is damaged or placed under excessive strain, damage occurs to the chondrocytes, the cells that create the cartilage that cushions the joint. The damaged chondrocytes release substances that result in inflammation of the joint which begins a vicious cycle of deterioration. Over time the cartilage disappears resulting in reduced mobility and pain.
Sashas Blend contains green lipped mussel, abalone and marine cartilage which are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids and glycosaminoglycans (including chondroitin sulphate). These active ingredients have been proven to slow the process of cartilage breakdown in the joint, as well as reducing pain and inflammation.
Safe for long term use in dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes. Not recommended for use in pregnant animals. Consult your vet prior to starting Sashas Blend if your dog has a heart condition.

My boy Barney, needed a knee op about 3 yrs ago,he had dislocated it and worn a groove in it, and along with that arthritis had formed. I purchased Sasha's Blend on the recommendation of another Hungarian Viszla owner. My 10 year old vizsla has hip dysplasia and consequently arthritic hips and has been receiving cartrophen/synovan injections every six months for the last couple years. We also commenced PAWS OsteoCare Chews last year in an attempt to further assist her. After finding she deteriorated rapidly after the start-up dose dropped, I bought Sasha's Blend and it has been absolutely amazing. After conferring with the site and the makers and distributors of Sashas Blend I received the OK to give to my 17yr cat, old friend and companion Dooby who was suffering from arthritis in both front legs. I found I had to halve the recommended dose for dogs of same weight as he wouldn't touch his food with larger amounts. I mixed with his morning feed, either with low salt tinned salmon and/or another fish product always low salt. I also add a little water to the near empty containers to get a tasty mixture which I add to the food after the Sashas is sprinkled on. That worked and he now eats the food unconcerned and the change in his arthritis is quite dramatic, after 2 weeks he now lies down with only a little hesitation and is running, jumping up on the chair, the bed, taken years off. He is a dag :-) Cant thank the makers of Sashas and Sasha herself enough.

Have been using Sashas Blend for the past 3 months for my 11 year old Maremma Sheepdog with beginning signs of arthritis. My maltese shitzu cross has the usual laxating patella knee problems that seems to curse little dogs. I initially used anti inflams from vet and then moved off the drugs and on to sashas blend I have avoided the recommended invasive surgery and had her quality of life returned. We may need to look at surgery as she ages but for now she is happy. I also used this product many years ago on a very arthritic labrador who went from barely walking to running around the yard like a young dog again. Awesome product!
