What do lorikeets eat?
Lorikeets in the wild feed on nectar and pollen from flowers (like grevillea and bottlebrush), along with blossums, buds, soft fruits and berries. For captive Lorikeets, offer a complete Lorikeet mix at all times - these can be fed either wet or dry depending on your bird's preference. Supplement the Lorikeet mix with a range of fresh fruit, native flowers and greens with plenty of fresh water at all times.

Lorikeet feeding tips
- Be sure to change your Lorikeet's food and water twice daily (ie morning and afternoon) as it quickly spoils and becomes contaminated.
- Offer fruits like apples, pears, grapes, melon - avoid acidic fruits like citrus as this can cause tummy upsets.
- Never feed your Lorikeet seed, it can cause obesity and permanent loss of their special 'brush like' tongue which allows them to eat their normal liquid diet.
