Commercial Vegetarian Diets for Dogs
Royal Canin Anallergenic
Royal Canin Anallergenic uses poultry feather protein instead of meat. However, it does contain small amounts of animal fat, so it would not be appropriate if you are looking for a vegan or completely plant-based diet. This diet is formulated for the purpose of diagnosing and managing food allergies. It is manufactured under pharmaceutical grade conditions to prevent cross-contamination from other proteins.
Pro Plan Hydrolyzed HA
Proplan Veterinary Diet HA is formulated for the diagnosis and management of food allergies in dogs. It contains hydrolysed soy as the protein source instead of animal meat. It would be considered vegan except for the inclusion of lanolin as a source of vitamin D3 from sheeps wool.
Royal Canin Hypoallergenic
Royal Canin Hypoallergenic utilises soya protein isolate as its protein source. However, it does contain small amounts of animal fat, and poultry liver, so it would not be appropriate if you are looking for a vegan or completely plant-based diet. This diet is formulated for the diagnosis and management of food allergies. It may be more cost-effective for large breed dogs who tolerate a soy-based diet.
