Your best bet to do this is to assess (ideally with your vet) your pet's body condition score (BCS.) The body condition score basically tells you if your pet's within the ideal weight range relative to their physical frames. It's important to remember that the feeding guidelines differ across brands and that these are only meant to be taken as recommendations to maintain the proper body weight; if Buddy's a little skinny,you can try feeding him a bit more but if he's getting a little pudgier,best to cut back on his food intake.
