As any dog parent will know, every dog is different. Some are really social, some very curious, some extra intelligent and others are just plain goofballs! Have you ever wondered why your furry family member acts a certain way?
To better understand your complex canine, it might help to look to the stars. Zodiac signs have long intrigued those seeking guidance or self-awareness, so it makes sense to also consider how your pooch's sign may influence their personality.
While not based on any scientific or factual evidence, astrology can be a fun and harmless way to get to know your pup a little better.
Aries: 21st March - 19th April

The Aries dog is strong willed, confident and determined. They are highly independent and can be disobedient at times, though their playfulness and drive make them easy to love.
These dogs are very inquisitive, and along with their hefty sense of self-assurance this can get them into trouble! Aries dogs love to explore and make excellent companions for adventures in the great outdoors.

Taurus pups love to be pampered and enjoy the finer things in life- like food! They can be a little shy but are open with their affection towards the ones they love, bonding closely with their people.
Known to be stubborn and resistant to change, the Taurus dog is not a fan of chaos and thrives in a balanced, peaceful environment, with a regular routine but enough 'spice' to keep things interesting! Protective and faithful, they will always have your back.

Geminis are curious, mischievous and multifaceted pups. Represented by the twins, they can have multiple sides to them and often adapt their personality to suit their environment- from hyperactive to calm, outgoing to reserved, you never know quite what you're going to get!
Despite their short attention span, they are quick learners and love to be active and explore new places. They enjoy variety in all things, including diet, and can be fussy eaters if this is not provided.

Dogs born under this sign are caring and loving, with sweet and gentle natures. Their devotion to their people can sometimes manifest as clinginess, and they need regular reassurance.

The Leo dog is proud, charismatic and larger than life! They thrive on being the centre of attention and have plenty of love and loyalty to share with the two-legged members of the family.

Virgo pups love things to be in order and are happiest when they have a steady routine. These qualities, combined with their intelligence, make them easy to train and they tend to do well in the agility and obedience spheres.
Though they don't enjoy them, they are good at dealing with stressful situations due to their patience and calm nature. Some Virgos can be high maintenance but have a nurturing side that makes this trait easy to forgive.

The Libra dog is the 'social butterfly' of the dog world! With a love of company of both the two- and four-legged variety, it's unsurprising that they tend to do well in multi-pet homes.
Libras generally avoid conflict and like to please their people so are quite trainable. They enjoy a predictable, structured environment over a chaotic, action-heavy one. These pups can be indecisive so a fussy appetite isn't unusual as they often change their mind about what they'd like to eat!

Scorpio pups can take a little while to warm up to you, but when they do, they're intensely loyal and will have your back for life. These dogs are very inquisitive and have magnetic personalities.
They love to explore, need regular exercise and crave structure. Scorpios make very protective and loving companions and bond closely with their family. While they can be aloof, they're also intuitive and often know just what you need at any given moment.
Sagittarius: 22nd November - 21st December

The Sagittarius dog is an energetic, fun-loving goofball that loves physical affection and companionship. They need plenty of mental and physical enrichment and tend to dislike staying indoors for too long- so it isn't surprising that they can be cheeky escape artists!
Sagittarian dogs are happy, extroverted and loyal. Their colourful personalities keep their two-legged family members constantly entertained and they often get along well with other household pets.
Capricorn: 22nd December - 19th January

Capricorns are loyal and independent pups who enjoy play and exercise. They also love to learn new things and have a great memory, so are generally obedient and easily trainable- and they love getting praised for a job well done!
Capricorn dogs enjoy having a busy but predictable routine and are easily bored so need lots of mental and physical enrichment. They can get anxious in new or stressful situations, and can be headstrong at times.

Pisces dogs are sweet, gentle and empathetic, qualities which make them great therapy dogs. Some are even known to sense and mirror the emotions of the ones closest to them!
They form close bonds with their people and thrive in a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of affection. These pups are often sensitive and can be easily distracted. Known for being peacekeepers, they avoid conflict wherever possible.
While the stars and planets may not hold a scientifically proven key to our dogs' behaviours, exploring their zodiac signs offers a fun and imaginative lens through which to appreciate their unique personalities.
Whether you have a confident and adventurous Aries or a sweet and sensitive Pisces, what's clear is that every dog is an individual with their own distinct quirks and charms.
Ultimately, understanding your canine companion - whether through astrology, observation, or simply spending quality time together - enriches the special bond you share.
