Corn Cat Litter Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can cats be allergic to corn litter?
It is not common for cats to be allergic to corn, but not impossible. Most corn litters have low dusting. However, if your cat has respiratory issues or is prone to allergies, a dust free and unscented litter is recommended, such as the Catsan Cat Litter Crystals or the Furrytail Michu Natural Clumping Tofu Cat Litter Original.
Is corn litter safe for cats and kittens?
Corn litter is non toxic and safe for cats. It is not unusual for young kittens still learning to use litter trays to attempt to eat the cat litter. For this reason, we recommend avoiding clumping clay or crystal litters which can cause illness when ingested or inhaled.
Biodegradable litters such as corn litter and litters made from plant material or recycled paper are much less likely to do harm if taste tested. Constant eating or ingestion of large amounts is not ideal, consider changing litters and you may need to seek veterinary attention if your pet becomes unwell.
