Dog diffusers
Diffuser technology has become increasingly popular, being an inclusion in most homes. Dog diffusers allow delivery of calming pheromones to help your dog feel relaxed and appeased in their own home.
If you are looking to help your dog's health in a different aspect, there are joint care or multivitamin and supplements for your older pet or skin care supplement for itchy or allergic dogs.Frequently Asked Questions
Can diffusing essential oils around my dog be harmful?
Whether you are working from home or in an office, adding personal touches is important to create a relaxing work space. This may include an indoor plant, or an essential oil diffuser for an extra touch of relaxation. Work-from-home arrangements means we can be around our pets more often, but is running diffusers around our pets harmful to their health?
Unfortunately, essential oils can be toxic to our pets. Concentrated forms of essential oils should be avoided completely, this includes orally and topically. Active diffusers release a mist of essential oils, which can still distribute essential oils onto surfaces that your pet may walk on or lick.
Although essential oil diffusers are safer than concentrated forms of essential oil, caution is still recommended for your dog. If you wish to use a diffuser, it is recommended to use in a well-ventilated space to which your pet does not have access.
If your dog or cat has any respiratory issues, diffusers are generally not recommended. Smaller pets, such as guinea pigs, rabbits and birds, have very sensitive respiratory tracts and diffusers should be reconsidered in these households.
If you think your pet has been exposed to a toxic substance, do not delay seeking veterinary advice. You can also phone Animal Poisons Helpline for further advice on 1300 TOX PET.
