A dog crate serves as a dedicated and safe space for your pet. It can assist with toilet training, protect your pet and house when you are away and help them feel more calm during a veterinary hospital stay or travelling. Whether you need a crate for a tiny breed or a gentle giant, we have a broad range of high-quality crates available. Each one ensures the maximum comfort and safety of your furry friend. Explore our selection and find the perfect crate that suits your pet's needs and your lifestyle.
Crate training offers a multitude of benefits, assisting in housebreaking as dogs instinctively avoid soiling their sleeping areas. It also provides a secure environment during travel and serves as a controlled space during recovery from sickness or injury. A crate, being akin to a den, offers dogs a retreat when stressed or anxious, aiding in anxiety reduction and preventing destructive behavior.
However, the crate's role extends beyond this. It's a tool for obedience training, helping to establish routine and boundaries. Moreover, it's a preventative measure against potential home damage from a pet left unsupervised. For dog owners, knowing their pets are safe in their crates provides immense peace of mind. However, it's crucial to remember that crates should never be used as punishment, nor should dogs be left in them for extended periods.
Choosing the correct size crate for your dog is a fundamental aspect of crate training and usage. A properly sized crate ensures that your pet feels safe, secure, and comfortable. The right crate size will depend on your dog's breed, size, and age.
When selecting a crate, it should be large enough to allow your dog to comfortably stand up, turn around, and lie down. They should be able to stretch out without feeling confined, but not so large that they could designate one corner as their bathroom area.
To determine the right crate size:
Length: Measure your dog from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail (not the tip of the tail, as this will make the crate too large). Add 2-4 inches to this measurement for the correct crate length.
Height: Measure your dog from the top of the head to the ground. If your dog has naturally erect ears, measure from the tip of the ears. Add 2-4 inches to this measurement for the correct crate height.
