Many pet parents find that their dogs do better on grain-free diets and this can manifest as improved digestion, or relief from itchy skin or common dog allergies. In terms of allergies, grain allergies are actually quite rare; protein source is the most common culprit when a food allergy is suspected.
If your dog has a confirmed grain allergy or if you would need a novel or single protein diet, which many natural brands do offer, grain-free diets are a great option. It is however important to critically evaluate the ingredients and nutrients that it provides as carbohydrate alternatives can offer less in the way of nutrients.
