Clay Litter Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is clay litter safe for cats?
Clay litter is not toxic. A common concern with using clay litter is feline asthma. Small dust particles can cause irritation to the airways, triggering an asthma attack. If your cat has asthma or is prone to allergies, a dust free and unscented litter is recommended, such as the Catsan Cat Litter Crystals or the Furrytail Michu Natural Clumping Tofu Cat Litter Original. Another concern with clay litter, is that if the betonite clay is ingested it could cause a blockage in your cats intestines.

Betonite clay is mined from the soil in the environment, which means it is not sustainably sourced and there are concerns about the impact of clay mining on the natural environment.
